AP/MALDI represents a truly new technology for collecting data that will help you solve structures.  Ion trap-based AP-MALDI represents a significant improvement over the technique of MALDI Post Source Decay (PSD).  Atmospheric pressure ionization also provides an easy means to sample from nearly any conductive surface, thus opening the possibility of experiments into the development of new matrices and surfaces.
